Given to the people of New Milford by the late Frank Harden, who lived there from 1941 until 1965, Harrybrooke is a private park endowed by a trust fund and governed by a Board of Managers. It receives no funding from the Town of New Milford. The park is 41 acres.

The trust fund endowed by Mr. Harden for the park’s maintenance was his promise that the park could be enjoyed by generations of New Milford families at no cost to the town. But with the economic downturn, hard times have fallen on the trust fund. The cost of the park’s maintenance is taxing the ability of the fund to do anything more than the most basic maintenance. The Lions Club, local Boy Scout and Eagle Scout troops have given their tireless support to upkeep. But more is needed.
